Station 4 ‘The dwarf houses

Do you know what I find funny? I've been watching you the whole time and you don't even realise it... You've also walked past many of the entrances to our dwarf houses ... yes, they still exist here, because there used to be lots of dwarves living on the Scholben before the big humans arrived. Most of the dwarves then retreated to the higher altitudes of the Harz Mountains, where it is very quiet and peaceful, and only a few ‘guardian dwarves’ have remained down here... I am also a guardian dwarf and make sure that nothing happens here.
Take a look at the trees... and now look at where the trunk comes out of the ground... do you see the roots? There are the entrances to our dwarf houses and just think, they are all connected by underground passages. That's why we can travel much faster than the big people. You're probably wondering why you can't see me at all and yet I'm there before you. That is the secret of the paths that lie beneath the earth. If you walk on now, you will certainly notice the entrances, even if we go to great lengths to hide them. We guardian gnomes are also happy to receive small gifts that children place in front of our doors, perhaps a flower, a beautiful stone or an empty snail shell. Then we know that someone is thinking of us and we don't feel so alone...
